Clem Carr started playing piano at the age of 6, saxophone at 16, finished his classical grade 8 through Trinity School of Music and went on to study a Diploma in Jazz studies at the South African College of Music at The University Of Cape Town.

He has been performing in bands since high school including The Rudimentals, Goodluck, The Cape Town Jazz Orchestra and The Kiffness. Clem and his projects, have positioned themselves to open for Maroon Five, One Republic, Johnny Clegg, The Wailers (of Bob Marley & The Wailers) UB40 and Bastille. Clem functioned as the second half of The Kiffness (a live producer duo) for a few years and released a number of chart performing tracks while touring the country extensively.

Clem has also worked as Music Director for TRESOR, has performed on numerous chart topping records of Tresor’s and similarly spent a lot of time on the road abroad and locally with Tresor. Clem is also a published songwriter with Tresor’s recording label, Jacquel Entertainment in partnership with Universal Music Group. Clem is also BONJ’s long time creative partner. This duo were chosen as the national opening act for SAM SMITH for his South African tour. Clem and BONJ have been writing together since 2010 with a number of chart performing records together. Clem has written for orchestra, big band and vocal driven ensembles since a young age and has a strong belief in uplifting young musicians in the spirit of Pan African and global collaboration.
